Angela Hood

Education Program Leader

I'm a Michigan native who's been captivated by science and nature since my early years. As a kid, I wasn't afraid to get my hands dirty, whether it meant exploring the world of poison ivy or investigating frog spawn in our local ponds.

After earning my Bachelor of Science at the University of Michigan, I set out to share my enthusiasm for learning and science with others. I completed my Master in Arts of Teaching at Eastern Michigan University, and I began my teaching career at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor where I taught Earth and environmental science, helping students explore and appreciate the wonders of the natural world.

In pursuit of new challenges and experiences, I made the move to Baltimore to take on the role of Education Program Leader at the Cary Institute, where I continue to focus on science education. My work involves collaborating with diverse groups, supporting research, and leading professional learning opportunities to support 3D science instruction.

I have a passion for making science accessible to all and inspiring both educators and students. My goal is to encourage the next generation to explore the marvels of science and the beauty of nature. My journey in education has been marked by a strong commitment to fostering collaboration, promoting inclusive and equitable education, and helping students achieve their academic goals.”
