Arcus Foundation Primatologist Annette Lanjouw discusses the challenges of conserving apes, orangutans, chimpanzees, and bonobos.
Drawing on 20 years of experience, Lanjouw will explore how social and economic development are linked to the protection of ecosystems, landscapes, and species. She will also discuss how, when it comes to preserving charismatic megafauna, it is important to focus on individual animals as well as the species as a whole.
In Lanjouw's view, conservation can only occur if people across the globe understand and care about wildlife, and are willing to change their behavior to ensure that we can live as part of a balanced natural system.
